Oxcarbazapine (ZoCarb)

ZoCarb – Oxcarbazapine (300mg/450mg Tablets)

Oxcarbazepine is an anticonvulsant drug primarily used in the treatment of epilepsy. There is some evidence for oxcarbazepine as a mood-stabilizing agent and thus, it can be used as add-on therapy for bipolar disorder in patients that have failed or are unable to tolerate approved treatments.

Overview

  • Established as effective initial monotherapy for children with partial-onset seizures1
  • First line drug for partial and secondarily generalized seizures 1
  • It is effective in patients with refractory generalized seizures2
  • It is well tolerated and has fewer drug- drug interaction compared to carbamazepine1
